Noah watches Tatsuma move and decides to follow suit. It feels weird not only being in this ridiculous get up, but walking into such a fancy restaurant. This is the sort of place Ari would go to, not himself. Honestly, the sharp looks from the host only makes him feel more uncomfortable.

"It's like visiting my extended family..." He mutters under his breath.

Luckily even if they are ill suited, the reserve Tatsuma placed is enough to make sure they're not thrown out, especially as it's a rather quiet day for the restaurant and they need the money. So with click on the tongue, the host escorts them to a rather fancy clothed table.

Well, if nothing else, Tatsuma is good at remaining unfazed as ever. When the host stops at their table, he takes a seat with a gentle smile.

The menus are neat, clean little booklets, presented primly to the boys by the waiter. He picks one up and...

immediately stares at the pricing on the dishes. Okay. Maybe he is a little fazed by this after all. He anticipated having to pay up for this, but seeing it in print really brings it home.

"...Um..."

Noah had taken his own seat, moving to set Timcanpy down in a chair next to his, before looking at the menu. He frowns a little, this certainly wasn't his type of food, and the prices...there's no way he could afford that on just the salary he gets at the Confectionary.

He looks over at Tatsuma, and notices his own fazed reaction at the menu. Yeah, he can imagine Tatsuma wasn't rich. If Tatsuma didn't need this for bingo, he'd advise them leaving now. But since he doubts just sitting at a table and leaving will work.

Ugh...fine. Sometimes sacrifices would have to be made, even if it meant tapping into money he rather not.

"Don't worry, I'll pay for it."

He tips his head up quickly when he hears that, expression still slightly disquieted.

"Huh?" He wanted to--

Once his brain catches up to the words, he shakes his head. "It'll... probably be okay."

Probably... Either way, he's definitely wrecking his wallet. But at the same time, he'd rather not have to make Noah pay for it, either.

The server leaves to allow them to make their decisions, and he lays the booklet flat on the table to scrutinize. What's the cheapest option available?

Tatsuma says that, but he knows those expressions and gestures well enough. Especially with the word 'probably' said. So he'll shake his head, insisting.

"Yeah, 'cause I'm paying for it. My extended family's....really well off, and my cousin keeps giving me a fucking huge allowance, so I gotta use it for something. So order anything you like, I insist."

He even gives a bit of a friendly look to encourage him. But this is damaged by the scowl that quickly follows it.

"Though if you tell anybody about this, I'll make you regret it. Deal?"

Noah, why are you being so forceful about spending money on him...

"...Alright," he finally says, because he doesn't particularly pick fights on a good day, much less over a friend trying to help him. "And I won't tell anyone, either." He already doesn't tend to talk to people. This will work out fine.

Still, he tilts his head down to look at the booklet, clearly very troubled about something else entirely:

"...I don't know what to get."

Because being aggressive is Noah's way okay. Just be glad he doesn't feel strong enough about this to headbutt you. Its been known to happen.

"Tch, thanks." He means it though, even if it comes out as a muttered. "My family situation's...complicated. I don't want people gossiping and getting the wrong idea."

Well more so than usual, anyway. He'll look back at his own menu, then glances back at Tatsuma.

"Yeah? Well...what do you like? I mean, 'sides strawberries. Pretty sure we'll only find those in the desserts."

Please don't headbutt him, Noah. That's not a good time.

Though he does get a curious glance at the mention of 'complicated,' Tatsuma soon tips his head down again. If Noah doesn't want to talk about it, he won't push it, instead answering his question.

"Umm... Fish?"

A quick scan through the menu tells him that, if nothing else, everything is more or less priced about the same. Ordering one kind of ingredient over another won't change the price too much.

Yeah don't worry bro, no headbutting today.

But hmmm, okay fish? He could work with that. He looks at the menu again, thinking back on all the French cooking shows he's watched.

Which granted, was a lot of shows. A lot.

"Do you like salmon? Saumon grillé is just grilled salmon. It's pretty good."

"Salmon's good." Less fishy than some of the other fish, too. "I'll get that." Is he deciding on it solely because it's the first suggested item? Possibly. But also, as long as milk isn't involved, he's not too picky anyway.

"What are you getting?"

Lucky for Tatsuma, there isn't really milk used in grilled salmon. At his question, Noah will look thoughtful.

"Hmmm...think I want to have Beef bourguignon. And maybe some gratin? But I also really want to try escargot. I mean I know it's snails, but there's gotta be something to them, right?"

...There might be a reason Noah offered to pay. Talk about a bottomless stomach.

Wow, yeah, okay, this makes a little more sense now.

"That's a lot..." He's got nothing on Noah when it comes to appetite, apparently. "Never had escargot. I wonder what it tastes like?"

His line of thinking is much like Noah's. If people eat them, there must be some reason why.

He's a growing boy! With a giant parasite for an arm, it's a thing.

"Well, only one way to find out! Let's order a plate of them."

Nodding! This sounds like a plan.

He'll obligingly flip through a few more pages, but he's already decided on his meal and about all that's left is a choice of wines, which are off limits. Seeing nothing else, he'll just go ahead and close it, peering down the aisle to see if anyone's going to come and see what they'd like to order.

"Anything else...?"

Ah, there's someone. They're walking this way, even.

"Hmmm, I think that's good for now. We'll look at the desserts later- there's gotta be something with strawberries.

He'll leave his own menu open, ready to order from it. But since they are in costume, as the waiter comes up.

"Ahoy Matey!"

This might be a long and awkward dinner.

Oh, Noah. Truly you know his heart's desires ~~as if it weren't exceedingly obvious at all times ever.~~

He smiles and follows up on Noah's greeting with a quiet "Arrr." They are putting so much effort into this, they surely deserve bonus points, right?!

The waiter's mouth gives a funny twitch, and it's hard to say if they're about to scowl or burst out laughing. Instead, they do an amazing job of keeping calm.

"What would you like to order, messieurs?"

Yeah they definitely deserve bonus points for this!! If that is such a thing on the bingo card. It's hard to tell really.

And of course, Noah is going to go all the way.

"Arr, I'll take an order of Beef bourguignon and some gratin- and with the appetiser of escargot for me and my cap'n."

He turns to look.

"What about you sir?"

If not, the bingo card needs to be adjusted solely for them. It's clearly the way to go.

"I-- Oh. Arrr, I'll have the... Saumon grillé."

Not only did he forget to keep in character, but he also just butchered himself some French. Ah, well. There's another mysteriously strained look from the waiter, clearly trying to hold some opinion back.

"Right," the fellow says, doing an admirable job of keeping his voice steady, even if it comes out a bit curt. "If that will be all, I will return with your meals..."

And, upon collecting the menus, will beat a retreat from his troublemaker customers. At least they haven't been kicked out?

When the waiter leaves, Noah gives a little sigh. At least they weren't thrown out, but man, talk about embarrassing.

"Please tell me has counted for your bingo square..."

A very good question indeed... "Most of the time, as long as you do the minimum, it looks like it's okay."

Three guesses who's been sliding by doing exactly that.

Yeah, he's not surprised Tatsuma would do the minimum. Can't even blame him.

"Well that's something at least. This whole thing is a pain in the arse."

"Really? I think it's fun." It's accompanied by a small smile. Tatsuma is... definitely not the type to get out and meet new people too often, so while some of the tasks were a stretch, it's been nice to see some of the other Retrospec users.

"Huh?" He says, seeming a little surprised. "Why do you think so?"

His tone doesn't sound mocking, more like he's sincerely surprised and curious. Sure, the bingos haven't been terrible, but doing random tasks for a sinister group seemed like the opposite of fun to him.

That and you know, Noah sometimes doesn't know fun even if it hits him in the face.

"I met a lot of people. And I got to hang out with friends like you."

Truly, it's the simple pleasures in life that are best. Spending time with the friends he's made here, meeting new ones - yeah, it's definitely not a bad deal at all.

"Tch..."

He lifts his glass of water to drink, partly to hide any sort of pinkness in his face from blushing.

"If you wanna hang out, you could always just call ya know."
