[He moves close enough so he can see the scene despite the thick, thick fog. Whoever is attacking Sorey is fast. Sorey was a good fighter, but he was clearly struggling against this.
Perhaps it would be better to run, that's probably what Sorey would want him to do. But Noah wasn't like that. He was reckless, impulsive- and most important of all, he couldn't turn away from what went on in front of him.
So before Lunarre gets another hit on him, Noah will lunge at Lunarre, his claw arm out and hoping to grab the man and throw him off his teacher]
[Lunarre isn't expecting Noah to summon a giant claw, obviously, but he's laughing maniacally even as he gets thrown. It's pretty unsettling. The fox rights himself in the air and charges his hands with more fire. "Oho, the side dish has claws! I've already devoured the appetizer, but I still want more...!"
Sorey scrambles to his feet with some urgency and shakes off the blows to his face. He'll probably need a few Hello Kitty bandaids later, but it's fine. This is fine. Noah just saved his ass so he can't yell at him to stay back, but he realizes that there's a time limit.]
Careful, he's fast!
[Lunarre lobs more fiery blasts at the student and his teacher. Sorey dodges this time, but as he's running in for another combo, the fox starts rapid-firing fireballs at them both.]
[Yeah this fox guy? Is more than a little unsettling, from the way he laughs and talks about them like they're food. Just what was he?
But there's no time to think about it, as fireballs are being lobbed at them. Noah being as agile as he is, manages to get out of the way of the fireballs, raising his claw up to block a few of them. Thankfully, they don't burn the claw, but the rest of him was very human. How was he supposed to get in range of a guy shooting fire???]
[Sorey sprints out of the way. He can't afford to pause for even a moment, but he's out of breath regardless.]
I have water-- I'll go!
[He charges Lunarre without further explanation. His left hand, the one with the glove, glows a brilliant blue as he charges it with water magic. Then he switches his sword to that hand and slashes upward, summoning multiple pillars of water into Lunarre. The fox man recoils and hisses as if burned, steam rising from his body, shivering and spitting through his fangs.]
It burns, it burns, it burns! What are you?! No matter, I'll just eat you, too! Stupid little Shepherd-- you're all meat to me!
[Well. That's more effective than he thought, though he can't really spam it... It's fine though, they just need to take him down before Noah's powers run out.]
[What the fuck Sorey. Noah watches with slight disbelief because what is water going to do--
!!!
Apparently more than he thought! He didn't expect Sorey to summon pillars of water, or for it to cause steaming burns on the guy-- but he's not going to question it. Sorey's a lot stronger than he thought.]
Okay! I'll follow your lead.
[With that, Noah tries to close in, looking for an opening to get at Lunarre]
[Sorey charges Lunarre from one side, fully expecting to draw his attention. Which means some shounen boasting, of course.]
Hey, ugly! Why don't you try eating this?!
[He charges his spell again. Lunarre underestimates the range and gets hit while he backs up... right into Noah's claw. Lunarre shrieks with pained laughter and whirls around, summoning a tornado of fire around himself that sends Sorey slamming into the concrete again. Though he can barely tell which way is up, he still tries to get to his feet. He can't let Noah take on a hellion by himself.]
[Noah meanwhile had charged to the other side, holding back his own boasting so Sorey can get his attention. It works, and the claws deliver a direct hit on the guy. Fuck ye--
--- Oh fuck no. That sure is a fire tornado. Like Sorey, Noah gets knocked back against the concrete with a yell. ]
[The fox man appears to be up to something. Sorey raises his sword just in time to block an onslaught of fiery fists. If he can just--
Lunarre's laughter pierces the fog. Even Sorey can feel the energy rolling off of him. This is bad. He starts another of his sword artes but Lunarre ignores him and runs for Noah instead.
And then it all goes dark.
The moon appears through the mist just briefly. The fox man cackles with delight and turns entirely too fast to see, a whirlwind of blades and fire slamming into anyone within range.
Sorey hits the pavement with a yelp, sliced to hell and far, far too late to cover his student from harm.]
[Noah was trying to get up, to try to help Sorey- but suddenly, everything goes dark. He can't see anything but slight moonlight in mist- but then the glint of a blade.
Sorey can hear the sounds of Noah screaming as the blades and fire hit him. His claw is able to shield him from receiving any fatal blows to the chest, but his face and rest of his body on the other hand....
He falls to the ground, crashing into the pavement.]
[Something is definitely bleeding, and he's probably going to need stitches, but like hell Sorey cares right now. It's Noah's screaming that brings him back, a sound that rips him apart and fills him with anger at the same time. He pushes himself back to his feet by way of his sword. Lunarre cackles, his wild eyes growing wide.]
I thought I'd hit two birds with one stone! Looks like I missed.
[Sorey remembers all the panic he felt the first time he purified a hellion. It wasn't much different from now; he'd been worried about Mikleo and Alisha and everyone else who had gathered to see the Shepherd pull the sword out of the stone. He had monsters spawning in front of him, fire everywhere, smoke clouding his lungs. Now it's fog and mist and the realization that Noah is fully, completely depending on him to end this.]
I'm done with you.
[He holds out his arm and charges it with water magic like he had before. And then he charges. He moves as fast as he did before getting injured. It hurts, but he pushes himself beyond his limits because he has no choice. Lunarre hits him once, twice, three times. Sorey keeps going, summoning multiple water pillars, over and over. Each one earns a horrifying shriek that dissolves into a lunatic's laughter, and still Sorey presses on, until he's spent all of the magic he can muster.
The fox shrieks and staggers away as blue flames crawl all over him. Sorey recognizes them as the flames of purification and files that away for later. With all his fight spent, the apparition falls to his knees and disappears in a little cough of blue fire and smoke. (Unfortunately, the real Lunarre may never be purified.) It's then that the fog clears, and with it Sorey's mind.
He stumbles over to Noah's side.
Well, he's alive. But he's definitely going to need to go to the hospital. Sorey's never seen anyone this messed up before, even though sword injuries happen sometimes at tournaments, and the temporal storm's puzzles had grown heated. He's never seen someone chewed up and spat out, skin still burning, Christ, and the smell. The smell of blood is so strong and there's something like charred flesh. He wants to wretch.]
H-hold on, hold on, [he pleads, trembling fingers afraid to touch Noah as if that might make it worse. He doesn't have any healing magic. He doesn't have anything.] I'll get you to a h-hospital. It'll all be okay, I-- I promise. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. [He sucks in a breath through his teeth and tries to bite the tears back. Not now, not now. Gotta be strong.
He grabs Noah's phone and opens up the contact list. He dials the first number he recognizes, which happens to be at the top of the 'recent' list.]
[Noah's has had a lot of pain in his life. From monster fights the last few months, fights at school, circus related accidents, and all the incidents that happened before all that - the days he hated thinking about. He was a reckless and impulsive kid, injuries came hand in hand with that. He was used to pain.
But, it's been a long time since he's been in this level of pain. The pain so bad that you can't keep your mind straight, that the thoughts of death start coming into your mind. Was this how it was going to end for him? On some street side he doesn't know, from a monster that wasn't even there? No...he didn't want to die like this....
A memory starts coming into his mind. It was some room he didn't know. That Miranda woman was there, and so was that girl he saw in Ryoji's house- she's with monsters. Akuma. He feels like he's in complete agony. It's hard to tell what's his pain and what's the pain from the memory, they bleed together. He can feel Allen's feelings- they're so much like his: scared, confused. There's upset and anger in him too, but Noah can't tell what that's about.
But Miranda, she's so frightened. She has no way to protect herself. The girl summons sharp candlesticks to shoot at her. Allen doesn't think, he moves to shield Miranda, even as several of the candles pierce his flesh. He manages to pull out the spike that was pinning her hand, before he goes limp from all his pain.
He can hear Miranda's frightened pleads, but by now Sorey's rushed over to him and is making his own pleads. They are bleeding into one another, when Noah can't make out who is who, or where he is. What pain is real, what is remembered...
But both are so scared. He'll try to smile, through the pain, to try to reassure them.]
It's...It's all right...
[It's not clear who said it, Allen or Noah. It doesn't help that he's clearly half-out of it, and struggling to even remain conscious.]
[ Yu is moving on sheer adrenaline and dogged determination after that phone call. His emotions, a tangle of low horrible screaming in his chest, he locks into the back of his mind to acknowledge later, deal with later. Right now all of him is stoic calm, reacting to a crisis in the only way he's ever known how.
Shut himself away from the world and figure it out later, alone.
True to his word, if Sorey keeps his eyes on the sky, Yu will soon appear -- or, rather, an enormous gold dragon will appear. As it approaches the theater it dives down towards the street, and Sorey will be able to spot the boy on its back.
Yu leaps off his Persona ten feet off the ground and doesn't even stumble. He instead rolls and pops immediately to his feet, already running over, a montage of battles playing in his mind's eye. Monsters, darkness, blood - it all feels so familiar his body reacts without him needing to think.
And then he's there, a hand on Sorey's arm as he peers down into Noah's face. ]
You're both going to be just fine. Noah, try and stay awake.
[ The Mediarahan spell that washes over all three of them should feel like a cool balm against burning wounds. Yu casts it twice in rapid succession, ignoring the sucking feeling of exhaustion that yaws open in his gut, threatening to swallow him from the inside out. Later. Deal with it later. ]
Sorey, I can take Noah straight to the hospital. Do you want to follow us?
[Noah is still conscious, it seems, but he must be really out of it. The smile is unexpected and it breaks his heart. After hanging up (look to the sky, what) he focuses instead on Noah, cradling him carefully and close to keep him warm. The last thing Sorey wants is for his student to go into shock.]
Y-yeah. It'll be all right. Yu's coming, I know he can help.
[It feels like an eternity until Yu breaks the silence with the sound of dragon wings. Sorey shields his eyes with his elbow and then his eyes grow wide. This isn't the dragon that Minako summoned, but it's still incredible. The pang of fear he feels is replaced with awe as Yu swiftly dismounts.]
Uh-- [That's magic. It feels like magic, a cool wave washing over him that makes him ache for his other half. Hopefully Mikleo is home safe like he should be-- but back to Noah.] T-thanks, that really helps.
[He nods and firmly grounds himself in the present.]
I can go back for my car and follow you on the ground. [He eyes the dragon.] Unless you want me to come with?
[Sorey got sliced up too, but Yu's healing seems to have stalled any bleeding. Noah's definitely the priority. Sorey moves to pick him up fireman-style, but he may need some help.]
[Out of it is a good way to put it. He vaguely knows he's being held -- but the person holding him keeps flickering in his eyes. Sometimes it's Sorey, sometimes it's Miranda. Either way, their words seem rather far away- he can only get the gist. Miranda's terrified, Sorey's being reassuring.
It's only when Yu flies in on his dragon does the memory fade enough for him to be fully in the present. Though nothing makes you question if you're out of it like your friend riding in on a goddamn dragon.]
T-The fuck...? A fucking dragon? Shit Yu...
[He still manages to say weakly , clearly out of it. The magic washes over him, easing up some of the pain, and sealing up many of the wounds. But he's still lost a lot of blood- it's kinda all over the pavement. Not to mention his face is a mess right now. There's no question that he's going to need to see a hospital.]
