[all this talk about indian food, and prompto doesn't feel like eating any more donuts. he eats the one he started with, but the bag has conveniently found a home pretty much over noah's lap.]
[prompto hums, puts elbow to the back of the cushion and presses his face to his knuckles, legs crossed as he leans into the couch]
Indian food is some of my favorite. I love all the spicy things. Samosas, and tikka masala... Eat some mint and everythin' explodes in y'mouth.

[but after his comment, prompto keeps watching in silence. until he can't keep quiet despite his prior acknowledgement of not wanting to bring it up.]
Back in the subway, when the lady said... [look, prompto doesn't care to remember her name] You weren't wrong in getting angry. It bothered me, too.
[After that, he continues watching in silence. His guard has loosed up, but it's not entirely down. It's never entirely down. The donuts sit mostly untouched in his lap, he can always have them later, he supposes.
When Prompto finally brings up that topic again? He's...he's not surprised at all. It was the elephant in the room after all.
He pauses, trying to sort out his thoughts. How much he should share. How much he trusts Prompto.]
...I know. [He knows he's not wrong, and he knows Prompto is a good guy. At the same time, he knows his response was a little extreme, especially out of context.
He softly exhales through his nose]
...My parents...they didn't want me either, you know? Didn't even wait until I was old enough to remember me to ditch me.
[he offers, trying to be both comforting and funny. he knows it's not fair to just shove it all under a scope of humor, but prompto understands this feeling of not being cherished by the people one would think should.]

[He doesn't pull away from that hand on his head. But he can't help but give a humorless snort at that]

[He's very sure lots of people would replace him, if given the chance.]
...Anyway, I ended up being one of those kids you hear on the news, you know, the trafficked ones? My parent either sold me or gave me away to someone who sold me, I dunno which. I didn't even have a real name until I was about seven, after I got away.
[He gives a small little sigh]
So yeah, hearing people described as "assets"? Just...reminded me of all that shit.
[prompto removes his hand in surprise, just looking over at noah with something akin to disbelief. but... prompto isn't so horrible he would think that noah is making this up. why would anyone want to make something like that up?]
