[He immediately know what's happening thanks to the link. He runs over to try to check on her. The stormbird meanwhile is revving up for another attack after it starts trying to recover from its damaged wing]
[Ouch. Ouch. OUCH. She is going to need a long hot bath to stave off any muscles injuries when this is over. She pushes herself up, because she can still hear the stormbird thrashing around, so the job isn't finish yet.]
I am... sore. Ah, that really hurt.
[She rubs her shoulder where she made initial contact with the tree. She's pretty certain she didn't break anything, but still. Ouch.]
I can still fight. We cannot let it attack anyone else.
[Noah looks pretty concerned. Was she really okay flying up there again? Nothing looked broken, but next time might not go so well.]
We can't do that plan again. That thing's got too damn strong a counterattack.
[Meanwhile the bird, figuring out how to function with it's wing- is rising up. At first, maybe it could be mistaken for it deciding to fly away, but then it slows in it's assent, and pivot's directions so it's looking straight down at them.
[Li-Na rather agrees with Noah. This monster is really tough, tougher than any other creature she's fought so far. But she's also certain of her and Noah as a team. As long as they work together, she knows they can take down this opponent.
At first, she thinks the stormbird is about to flee, but then it turns to look down at them. And as an aerial attacker herself... Li-Na knows what that means.]
No... Noah, run!
[She starts to clamber to her feet, in the hopes she can kick off a whirlwind to ward it away again, but a wave of dizziness forces her to her knees.]
[He looks up as Li-Na does, seeing that bird going for the dive. It's descending fast. He's ready for the plan to run, his feet moving into a running position. But he stops when he sees Li-Na fall to her knees.]
Li-Na!
[Shit shit shit. This was bad. He couldn't leave her behind, but there wasn't enough time to try to pick her up and carry her out. He was strong, but carrying another person would still slow him down.
He steps in front of her raising his claw up to try to act as a line of defense. Maybe if he's fast enough, he can hit the bird astray. It was such a low chance- the range of his claw wasn't made for this battle. He needed to find a way to give enough space to reach out and hit it. There was no other option. They couldn't die out here.
Just then, as if the Innocence is reacting to his strong feelings, his arm starts to shift. The claw goes away as it starts to morph.]
What-
[It keeps grotesquely changing shape, until a clear shape emerges: a cannon. Energy starts pooling up at the end of the]
Huh?!?!
[But there's no time for Noah's shock, as the Innocence takes lead and shoots off its first volley straight up at the diving stormbird]
[As she fights to make her head stop spinning, she gets quick
flashes of what Noah is doing. Stepping in front of her to protect her.
Bringing up his arm.... something is happening to his arm...
She looks up just in time to see Noah's arm shift, changing
shape from a claw into... something else. And fire off some sort of energy
blast.]
Whoa.
[The stormbird is taken by surprise by Noah's arm cannon. It's used
to being the one firing energy blasts, not its prey! One of Noah's shots
goes straight through a wing and another right to the stormbird's chest.
The mechanical creature lets out an angry shriek as it struggles to stay
aloft.]
It will crash!
[Li-Na finally manages to get to her feet, and though the spinning
is starting to stop, a dull throb is taking its place.]
Can you fire again?
[She wonders how much energy this will take out of Noah. His
parasite type is different from her equipment type.]
[Noah is just as surprised as she is. He's staring at the gun arm with huge eyes and a shocked look on his face. Because hey, not every day your arm turns into a massive cannon]
Uh-
[the Innocence is telling his body what to do. It is really, really surreal.]
I think so?! Shit-
[As much as he doesn't want to follow some weird presence in his head, it's not like they have much choice. So he'll comply: his right hand holds onto the gun to help steady it, and he'll shoot off another volley.]
The next volley catches the stormbird in the other wing and a leg. The metal monster is mostly grounded at this point, reduced to hopping about on one leg and dragging itself about by what remains of its wings...
Until Li-Na zips in to finish destroying one of the wings with a hard kick. It helps that the stormbird is slowed down by all the damage it's taken from Noah's blasts. Li-Na is having to focus hard, but if Lenalee can keep fighting after getting kicked around, so can she.]
[As Li-Na zips in to finish destroying its wing, Noah will take another aimed shot at its head. He knows he probably doesn't have long until the power wears off, much like his claw when he first started using it, so he wanted to take it out as soon as possible]
[With its wings disabled, Li-Na chances taking to the skies again. She leaps up... and then falls, as fast as she can make the boots go. She doesn't reach her maximum acceleration, as she only went about 20 feet up, but it's enough to punch a Li-Na sized hole through it's neck. But despite the nearly severed neck, it's still twitching about.]
[Noah will take aim at the hole in the neck, shooting one last volley. But as the shot goes off and collides into the bird's neck? Noah's arm immediately reverts back to it's deactivated form, and he doubles over as he starts coughing up some blood.]
Shit- [More coughing. Too many shots taken for a brand new power]
[Li-Na does an aerial that makes her head start to spin again, her boots flashing green as they slice through what's left of the stormbird's neck. As the metal creature collapses and breaks into those little black cubes, Li-Na hurries over to Noah.]
Ahhh no no no, this is not good.
[She doesn't realize she's muttering in Cantonese as she reaches over to put her hands on his shoulders]
[He moves to straighten himself up, now that the coughing has started to subside. He feels like crap, but he doesn't want to let that on so he pulls out his phone and hits the button to sever the combat link. ]

[Coughs] I'm okay. Just- [coughs again] Overdid it some.

Li-Na forces herself to take a deep breath so she can try to respond to this in a mature and calm manner...]
Okay? You are not okay! You are coughing up blood and who knows what else.
[nope, not calm yet]

[LI-NA I CAN'T UNDERSTAND. At least the coughing is slowing down, and no more new blood]

Oh. Sorry. I was just... worried.
[because, you know, blood]
Should I call for someone?

[it would be worrying if someone started coughing up blood!! Even Noah can get that one. But he'll shake his head]
No, I'll be fine. Just didn't know my limits.

I'm fine, Li-Na. Just need to get used to the new power, that's all.

Still, we should head back. I have enough fighting for today.

Yes, it did. The metal monster bird aside, I think it worked very well. Thanks for trying it with me, Noah.
[and now for them to shuffle their way sorely home...]

Sure. Thanks for having me.
[off to home they go!]
